A powerful explosion that came before a massive fire erupted at Iran’s biggest commercial port, which killed at least five people and injured more than 700 others.
Authorities shared how the figures were feared to rise. The incident arose at the Shahid Rajaei Port, which is present nearly 1000 km south of the capital city of Tehran.

On Saturday night, the state-run IRNA news agency shared how the Customs Administration of Iran blamed a stockpile of hazardous goods and chemicals that were stored in the port area for this blast, without further providing more details about it.
The injured were reportedly rushed to nearby medical facilities.

Safety officials had visited the same site in the past, and that’s when they issued some major safety warnings regarding the region.
The blast arose as Iran and the US met on Saturday in Oman for the third round of negotiations over Tehran’s fastly advancing nuclear program. The country’s National Oil Products Refining and Distribution Firm issued a statement claiming that oil facilities in this area were not impacted due to this blast.
