It isn’t every day you see two world leaders greet each other with stealth bombers roaring above their heads. But that’s exactly what happened when Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin touched down in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday.

The meeting was already hyped as one of the year’s biggest diplomatic moments. Then the flyover happened, and suddenly everyone was talking less about peace talks and more about Putin’s hands.

Yes, his hands. As four F-35s and a B-2 Spirit bomber flew over, cameras caught the Russian president making a subtle gesture. It didn’t go unnoticed. And now a body language expert says the move revealed far more than most people realized.

Trump and Putin met at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in an attempt to find common ground on the war in Ukraine. Talks lasted three hours, followed by a press conference at where Trump said, “We didn’t get there, but we have a very good chance of getting there.” But the jets became the point of attraction.

Putin’s Gesture Spoke Volumes

Celebrity psychic and body language expert Inbaal Honigman told UNILAD that Putin’s reaction was immediate. “As the fighter jets approach the presidents, Putin notices the sound long before Trump does,” she said. “We can see that Putin looks directly at the noise, and his ‘holster hand’ stiffens over his pocket.”

Honigman explained that Putin’s movement links back to his KGB past. He often walks with what’s known as the “Gunslinger Gait,” keeping one hand loose while the other stays rigid, as if ready to draw a weapon. “Therefore, Putin’s strong hand over his pocket when he hears a loud noise shows that even years into his diplomatic career, he is still ready for action,” Honigman said. “He’s not relying on his skilled bodyguards. If anything went down, Vladimir will face the challenge fearlessly himself.”

The expert added that both leaders couldn’t hide their reaction once the aircraft passed overhead. Donald Trump clasped his hands, clearly proud of the display. Putin tilted his head back, eyes locked on the bombers. “Putin doesn’t even try to hide his glee,” Honigman said. “Trump then reaches to touch Putin’s arm, as a mark of friendship, showing the Russian president that this show is in his honour.”

Another analyst, Darren Stanton, offered a different take. He called the spectacle a “power move” from the U.S. President, although both Trump and Putin are in talks about organizing various events“It’s more or less saying, ‘I’ve got weapons as well, I’ve got the equipment as well,’” Stanton told UNILAD.

Whatever the intention is, but Putin’s hand gesture spoke louder than any official statement did.
